For educational and informational purposes only, not investment, tax, or legal advice.
The projections shown here are hypothetical illustrations generated from assumptions you entered (such as expected returns, inflation, and allocation percentages). They are not predictions, guarantees, or recommendations, and they do not suggest that you buy, sell, or hold any security. Retirement Scenario Lab does not provide personalized financial advice and is not your fiduciary. Markets are uncertain, and your actual results will differ, possibly significantly. You are solely responsible for your own decisions. Before acting, consult a licensed fiduciary financial, tax, or legal professional.
Retirement Scenario Lab (the "Service") is an educational and illustration tool. Everything it produces is intended to help you explore and understand how different financial assumptions interact over time. Nothing in the Service constitutes investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or any other professional advice, and nothing should be interpreted as a substitute for advice from a qualified, licensed professional who knows your specific circumstances.
All charts, figures, projections, Monte Carlo simulations, scenario comparisons, and stress tests are hypothetical illustrations based on the assumptions and inputs you supply, including, without limitation, expected rates of return, inflation rates, contribution amounts, withdrawal amounts, time horizons, and asset-allocation percentages.
The mathematics is intended to be transparent so that you can see how a given set of assumptions leads to a given illustration. Transparency of the calculation is not an assurance that the assumptions, or the results, are accurate, reasonable, or achievable.
The Service does not:
The Service holds no money or assets, does not custody funds, does not execute or facilitate any transaction, and does not connect to or link with any brokerage, banking, or investment account.
Using the Service creates no advisory, fiduciary, attorney, or accountant relationship between you and Jacobus Company, LLC.
Jacobus Company, LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner, and is not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, or any state securities authority. Nothing in the Service is a solicitation or an offer to buy or sell any security.
Past performance is not indicative of future results. Any historical figures, default values, or example assumptions are provided for illustration only. Financial markets are inherently uncertain and unpredictable; actual returns, inflation, taxes, fees, sequence of returns, and other factors will differ, potentially substantially, from any assumption used in the Service. No method of projection, including Monte Carlo analysis, can eliminate this uncertainty or predict actual future outcomes.
You are solely responsible for any decision you make and any action you take or do not take. You should not make any financial, investment, tax, or legal decision based solely on output from the Service. Before acting, consult a licensed fiduciary financial professional, a qualified tax adviser, and/or a licensed attorney who can assess your full and specific situation.
The Service and its output are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. See the Terms of Service for the complete disclaimers of warranties and limitation of liability.
Any historical market, inflation, or interest-rate figures used in the Service are provided for educational reference from public and third-party sources, without warranty of accuracy or completeness. Retirement Scenario Lab is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any index provider, data source, government agency, or financial institution. Where the Service refers to a broad market index, it means a general category of investments (for example, broad US large-company stocks), not any specific commercial index product, and no index provider is responsible for the Service or its output.
Any tax brackets, standard deduction amounts, required-minimum-distribution factors, or Social Security rules used in the Service are fixed figures for a stated year, included for illustration. Tax and benefit law changes, sometimes retroactively. These figures may be out of date, incomplete, or superseded, they cover US federal income tax only, and they do not reflect state or local tax, Medicare IRMAA surcharges, the net investment income tax, capital-gains treatment, or your individual circumstances. Nothing in the Service is tax advice. Confirm current rules with a qualified tax professional before relying on any figure.
Where the Service reports how often money "lasted" across simulated futures, that figure is a statistic describing a mathematical model running on assumptions you chose. It is not a probability that any real-world outcome will occur, not a forecast, and not a measure of how severely a plan might fall short. Small differences between two such figures are within the model's own sampling noise and should not be treated as meaningful.
We actively develop the Service. Features, default assumptions, historical data sets, tax figures, and calculation methods may be added, corrected, changed, or removed over time, and we may correct errors when we find them. This means the same inputs may produce different output in a later version, and an illustration you saved or printed earlier may not match what the Service shows today. Neither version is a prediction, and neither is a promise about the other. If a particular illustration matters to you, export or print a copy and note the date.
If the Service ever presents narrative, summary, or assistant-generated explanations of your results, those are offered on the same footing as everything else here: educational only, potentially incomplete or mistaken, and not advice. Always check anything important against the underlying figures and a qualified professional.
